About Madhu Savara
Welcome to Madhusavara.com.
I am Madhu Savara, a homemaker from Chandigarh. Cooking has always been a part of my life. I learnt the basics of home cooking in my family kitchen from my mother and grandmother, where every meal was prepared with care using seasonal ingredients and traditional methods. Those early experiences shaped my interest in Indian food and the stories associated with it.
Over the years, I realised that many regional recipes, local ingredients, and traditional cooking practices were gradually disappearing from everyday kitchens. Some were never written down, while others remained confined to a few families. That is what inspired me to start Madhusavara.com.
Why Madhusavara.com Was Started
Madhusavara.com is a collection of recipes, food traditions, and practical kitchen knowledge gathered through home cooking, reading, travel, and conversations with people who have preserved these traditions over the years.
The purpose of this website is simple—to document authentic recipes and traditional food knowledge in a form that is easy to understand, prepare, and preserve.
What You Will Find Here
Authentic Indian Recipes
The recipes published on this website are prepared in my kitchen and written with clear, step-by-step instructions. Along with traditional dishes, you will also find selected contemporary recipes prepared with ingredients commonly available in Indian homes.
Himalayan and Regional Cuisine
India’s regional cuisines reflect its geography, climate, and culture. Madhusavara.com gives special attention to Himalayan and regional cooking, including seasonal dishes, local ingredients, wild edible plants, traditional breads, and recipes that are becoming difficult to find.
Forgotten Foods
Many dishes once prepared regularly are now rarely seen in our homes. Wherever reliable information is available, I document such recipes along with their background and traditional methods of preparation.
Ingredients and Traditional Food Knowledge
This website also covers Indian spices, indigenous ingredients, traditional grains, potatoes, superfoods, seasonal produce, and sustainable food practices. The aim is to explain how these ingredients have been used in Indian kitchens and why they continue to remain relevant.
How the Content Is Prepared
Every recipe is cooked and checked before it is published. Historical and regional information is verified from reliable references wherever required. If any error is brought to my notice or new information becomes available, the content is reviewed and updated.
Your Contribution Matters
Many readers write to share family recipes, regional specialities, and traditional cooking methods that are not easily available in books or on the internet. Such contributions help preserve valuable culinary knowledge.
If you have a recipe, an old family cooking method, or information about a regional ingredient, you are welcome to share it through the Contact page.
Thank You
Thank you for spending your time on Madhusavara.com.
I hope the recipes and articles published here encourage more people to cook traditional food at home, explore India’s regional cuisines, and preserve the knowledge that has been passed from one generation to another.
